What WIN believes

The cornerstone of any successful team? Inclusion. That’s what WIN is all about — engaging, mentoring, and retaining highly talented professionals at Esurance. It’s what helps set the mold for leadership opportunities, creating balance for ALL Esurance associates.

How WIN goes about it

WIN is led by executive sponsor, Iva Yuan, Vice President of Product Development at Esurance, and co-chairs Neha Baxi, Manager of HR Compliance, and Jill Burns, Manager of Data Advocacy. Together, with a team of volunteers, including core leaders and chapter leads for each of Esurance’s 16 offices as well as the company’s remote workforce, they help to guide Esurance to work collaboratively with female talent, creating a network of support and engagement.

Leadership opportunities

On a quarterly basis, WIN invites team members at all levels to participate in discussions on relevant topics, like leading across groups and organizations, social success at work, and professional development trainings such as resume workshops. All members are able to volunteer for leadership roles to try out new skill sets like event planning, public speaking, networking, and team building. The goal is to nurture and maintain open lines of communication throughout our organization, inspiring female associates and supporting growth opportunities from within. Because when all’s said and done, we want Esurance to be the choice workplace for women.

Women’s History Month & International Women’s Day

Every year in March, WIN honors the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women all over the world. And on March 8th, WIN hosts events and programming in honor of International Women’s Day in each office as a call to motivate and unite friends, colleagues, and whole communities to think, act, and be gender inclusive.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

To honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Esurance has had the privilege of working together to raise awareness and raise funds for some renowned cancer research organizations, like the National Breast Cancer Foundation and American Cancer Society. Whether it’s an office scavenger hunt (we see you, Ogden) or a raffle, tasty treats, and a photobooth (looking at you, Sioux Falls), Esurance associates rep the pink to the fullest, consistently finding creative ways to help raise money for a really important cause.

Just this month, our Hauppauge, NY office pinked it out with an impressive bake sale spread. Think raffle baskets. Hershey Kiss cookies to the nines (yes, decked in pink). And a day of good eating and prize-winning, with some wonderful donations from local businesses. The best part? Our small but mighty Hauppauge WIN Chapter raised more than $700 in a single day!

One Book, One WIN

You might call One Book, One WIN a book club. But really, it’s a roadmap to thought leadership. On a quarterly basis, WIN members come together around innovative authors or speakers (so far this year, its been Amy Morin, Brene Brown, and Christine Porath). The books or talks cover relevant topics ranging from leadership to civility in the workplace and even mental health — all under the umbrella of self-empowerment. For this reason, One Book, One WIN encourages all members to identify and embrace their own career and personal missions.  

Red Nose Day

Making a difference in a child’s life should be fun. And at Esurance, we couldn’t agree more. In 2017, WIN threw our first Red Nose Day bonanza in many of our Esurance offices. And what a turnout it was! Refreshments, treats, and raffle prizes to boot, with many associates donning a red nose to help raise donations. And it was all while having fun.
