Without a doubt, the most important part of our job is the people we serve. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Recycled Rides, Gates Collision Center, and Gilda’s Club to offer a lifeline — and a very happy holiday — to one woman in Madison, Wisconsin.
Nancy is a 9-year cancer survivor, a veteran, a single mom to 2 12-year-old boys, and a caretaker to her elderly mother. That’s a lot to have on one plate. And with all the challenges Nancy’s faced in the last decade, inadequate transportation shouldn’t be adding to her worries.
“You hit a hardship and you don’t have transportation — it really affects your entire life,” said Troy Gates, owner of Gates Collision Centers. “So the goal is to restore the vehicle and restore the recipient’s life.”
This December, we joined forces with Gates Collision and Recycled Rides to gift Nancy a fully restored 2010 Hyundai Sonata so she can get from Point A to Point B and keep on being the superhero that she is.
“I’m overjoyed,” said Nancy. “I’m overwhelmed. I’m so grateful. I’m just thrilled. It’s the last thing that I’d be expecting. This is just the best, and I’m just very glad that I was selected and that people care.”
We’re just glad to be a part of her moment.
About Recycled Rides
Esurance and Recycled Rides work together to find vehicles that have been deemed a “total loss,” refurbish them, and hand them off to people in need. Gilda’s Club, an organization that offers free support for cancer survivors, has been instrumental in Nancy’s recovery and connected her to the Recycled Rides program
