Esurance car insurance discounts
So what exactly does one have to do to receive an awesome discount (or 3) on car insurance? Check out some of the awesome (and easy-to-get) discounts we offer in 30+ states nationwide.
1. Fast 5 discount®
How you get it: Just start a personalized quote online at esurance.com.
Savings: You could save 5 percent off your first-term premium.
2. Paid-in-full discount
How you get it: Pay your premium in one lump sum instead of monthly intervals when you buy or renew your Esurance policy.
Savings: You could save up to 10 percent off your premium.
3. Switch & Save® discount
Savings: In many states, you could save 5 percent off your premium, and it’s available for your first 2 terms.
4. Claim-free discount
How you get it: Well, just by driving safely. The qualifications vary by state but there are some common themes:
- All drivers on the policy have gone at least 60 months (5 years) without an at-fault accident claim or DUI/DWI conviction
- At least one person on the policy has 5-plus years of driving experience
- You had other car insurance at the time you bought your Esurance policy
In some states, comprehensive claims under $1,000, glass-only claims, and emergency road service claims won’t disqualify you from the discount in subsequent terms.
Savings: You could save 10 to 25 percent off your premium, depending on your state.
5. Homeowners discount
How you get it: Just by being an Esurance customer who owns a house or condo (or has a spouse who owns one). Generally, you can prove your home ownership through property tax records, a mortgage coupon, or a homeowners insurance declarations page.
Savings: Savings vary between drivers and states.
6. Defensive driver discount
How you get it: Sometimes called a Mature Driver, Driver Improvement, or Accident Prevention Course discount, this perk usually applies to older drivers (aged 50, 55, or 60 and older, depending on where you live) who have completed a defensive driving or driver improvement class approved by their state’s DMV.
In 5 states — New York, New Jersey, North Dakota, Georgia, and Oklahoma — the discount is not age-based and is available to all drivers. And in South Carolina, the age requirement is 25.
Savings: You could save up to 10 percent off certain coverages, which vary by state. In many states, the discount is good for 3 years after you complete your driver safety course.
7. Good student discount
How you get it: Attend a full-time high school, college, or university, and be under 25 years old, and have at least a 3.0 (“B”) grade point average. You’re typically eligible for the discount while enrolled as a student and up to one year afterward.
Savings: You could earn up to 10 percent off liability, collision, and medical payments coverages (other discounted coverages vary by state).
